Book Review thursday! heaven is for real for kids

Heaven is for real For Kids As told by Colton Burpo to his parents Todd & Sonja Burpo Illustrated by Wilson Ong When Colton Burpo was three years old he became very sick and had to go to the hospital. While there he took a journey to heaven and back. Told through the eyes of a young child and illustrated with his direction Colton tells the story of his trip to heaven and all of the wonderful things he saw and the people he spoke to. A beautifully written and illustrated book it also includes scriptures on each p[age that validate things he says he witnessed while in heaven. From seeing his grandfather and sister neither one of which he ever met to the description of the fiery sword and the Throne of God it’s hard to imagine that a three year old was making this up. This is a great book to use to help younger kids understand the concept of heaven as well as making death maybe not so scary. I read it to my two year old who loved the pictures but I do think this book would be better for the 4-6 year old crowd. As far as recommending this book I absolutely do. BUT before you read it to your kids I would suggest reading through it first so that when they have questions (and they will) you can be prepared to give a well thought out answer. This book would also be good to use during a family bible time.
